With a good day's work, a few hand tools, and these instructions you can craft a very nice looking casket. This casket is also designed to remove all screws after the glue dries so you can use this casket in those Green and Natural Burial cemeteries who require caskets without any metal screws or nails in them.

The Quick Casket

While some coffins may take several days to make because panels must be glued up and allowed to set completely before continuing construction, here is a casket building plan that will only take a few hours. The "Quick Casket" illustrated in these instructions can be assembled in less than three hours for about $100 of #3 pine. These plans are available on their web site and can be downloaded in MS Word format.

Rockler, a popular on-line woodworking tool supplier, sells detailed plans for a more contemporary casket design with spring-supported floor. Rockler also sells the hardware for this casket plan.
